On December 28th 2017, the result of the Fourth Round Discipline Assessment of Ministry of Education was published by the China Academic Degrees Graduate Education Development Center. 44 disciplines of HUST participated in the assessment and are all on therankinglist while 14 disciplines rank Category A (top 10% on the ranking list) among which Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Public Health and Preventive Medicine are classified as A+ (top 2% on the list).
The Optical Engineering Discipline of 80 universities and colleges participated in the Fourth Round Discipline Assessment while only 2 universities, HUST and Zhejiang University, are classified as A+ and keep their dominant position in China. The Electronic Science and Technology Disciplines of 106 universities and colleges participated in the Fourth Round Discipline Assessment. Electronic Science and Technology of HUST SOEI ranks B+ ( top 10%-20% on the list) while the ranking percentage was 25% in the Third Round Discipline Assessment.
Optical Engineering of HUST has been approved by the Ministry of Education as Double First-rate Discipline. Along with the Electronic Science and Technology, two disciplines are in the overall plan of the “HUST First-class academic group construction” and have been given priority support.
All the discipline assessment group members of HUST SOEI have made great efforts for the assessment: data collection and analysis, text writing, glossary of materials, etc. The dean of HUST SOEI, Xinliang ZHANG, said the school will keep condensing direction and aggregating resources for a better development of Optical Engineering & Electronic Science and Technology
